South Melbourne Market

February 1, 2018

Authentic, quirky and unique, South Melbourne Market is the quintessential urban village market. As this affluent suburb of the city has become increasingly popular with beautiful residents drinking craft coffee before their next yoga class, the market its self remains firmly at the roots of the community.

Founded in 1867, its architecture has changed little and on offer is local, fresh, seasonal food supplied by family artisan traders, many of whom have been established here for generations.  The fresh produce continues to play the lead role, but is now joined by an array of clothing, homewares, beauty and second-hand books. The evening gives way to a full calendar of live music events and pop up food stalls.

A must visit, not for any other reason than to experience an original market that captures the atmosphere of modern community.
