Caravan parks itself in Bankside

November 14, 2016

Antipodean all-day coffee shop Caravan has signed to take a new site at Bankside, next to the Tate Modern

Following its success at Exmouth Market and Kings Cross’ Granary Square, the 4,000 sq ft site seats up to 140 guests including space at a standalone bar. The ground floor unit is what used to be a 19th century metal factory.

The new space will feature favourites from the popular menus including baked eggs with tomato ragù and new dishes including lado biscuits with wild mushrooms. The new site will also see the addition of house-made cheeses and charcuterie as well as the much loved pizzas.

Caravan is also rumoured to be considering overseas expansion, having looked at sites in Brooklyn, New York and longer term would be interested in opening in other cities in the States.

Caravan is an impressive example of how a brand can really put its own stamp on a location. It will be interesting to see how they are able to translate the same ‘sense of place’ at Bankside that has been created at both Exmouth Market and King’s Cross.
