Lunson Mitchenall has secured department store Debenhams to take 113,000 sq ft of space to anchor intu Watford’s 400,000 sq ft leisure and retail extension.
Watford is already home to John Lewis, M&S, Next and Primark, with Debenhams completing the line up. When completed, the scheme will total 1.4m sq ft of retail and leisure – firmly placing it in the CACI Top 20.
Work has already started on site and the extension, which will open in 2018, includes a 40,000 sq ft IMAX Cineworld cinema, 14 large retail stores and 10 restaurants. The dynamic restaurant line-up includes Byron and Cabana.
Hayley Gisborne, Lunson Mitchenall, said: “Watford has been waiting a long time for this development to happen.
It’s exciting to see the old Charter Place buildings being flattened, making way for a new space. Watford has been a top requirement for Debenhams for some time and we are excited to be anchoring the extension with a department store. The extension provides us with quality MSU space to showcase the latest fashion brands, along with the quality family leisure offer customers expect from an intu Centre.”
