As part of its mandate on Churchill Square, Brighton, Lunson Mitchenall has secured a relocation for the world’s largest fashion brand, Zara.
The Spanish-born retailer will take a new 37,000 sq ft flagship store which was previously home to BHS. Zara has signed a 10-year lease and open for Christmas trade this year. The new store is twice the size of the current Zara and will complement other Inditex brands in the scheme including Bershka, Pull & Bear and Zara Home.
Elsewhere in Churchill Square, Victoria’s Secret is fitting out a 9,000 sq ft flagship store which will include their Pink facia, whilst other recent openings include Lovisa, Yankee Candle, Sketchers and Animal and a new, upsized H&M at the front of the scheme.
Neil Hockin, Director of Shopping Centre Leasing, said: “This is an exciting time for Churchill Square. Upsizing Zara and attracting Victoria’s Secret underlines Churchill Square’s position as one of the most successful Shopping Centre’s in the UK. Retailer demand for Brighton remains high and we have several other tenant mix defining deals in the pipeline. Footfall at the centre is strong, especially with the centre’s catchment of students and London commuters, and we expect Zara to strengthen it further.”
Angus Stenhouse, Retail Portfolio Manager, Standard Life Investments said “Delivering an upsize for Zara has been a key target for a while and the BHS presented an ideal opportunity. Lunson Mitchenall’s strategic approach and unrivalled relationship with retailers helps us deliver unrivalled performance for one of key assets.”
