Next in line for Basingstoke and Burton-on-Trent

April 24, 2017

The shopping centre leasing team at Lunson Mitchenall is celebrating the arrival of high street retailer, Next, at two of its schemes.

At Festival Place, Basingstoke, Next has taken occupancy in the former BHS store, signing for 48,000 sq ft of space. Sitting alongside the likes of Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, the signing signifies another impressive anchor for the Hampshire scheme and opened to the public in January. Early trading reports are very encouraging.

The announcement comes exactly a year after the leasing and lease advisory teams won the mandate for the centre which is managed AEW Europe.

Alongside this, the team has also signed Next up to Coopers Square in Burton-on-Trent. Also occupying the former BHS store, the unit comprises 25,000 sq ft of space, and will join Primark, Marks & Spencer and New Look in the line-up. The centre is owned by New Frontier.

Matt Maynard, Director, said: “Since the end of last year, we have seen very high levels of interest in former BHS units. Next has been snapping up many of these as it seeks to grow and diversify its UK portfolio. It is really encouraging to see Next double the size of their store in Basingstoke and triple the size in Burton which is testament to the strength of both centres.”
